- Postdocs at GIQ- Barcelona:
The Quantum Information Group (GIQ) of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, UAB, offers two postdoctoral appointments in the framework of QOIT (Quantum Optical Information Technology) project within the Consolider- Ingenio 2010 program (http://www.qoit.es) and of the EU integrated program SCALA (Scalable Quantum Computing with Light and Atoms: http://www.scala-ip.org/).The appointments are for one year (renewable). Starting date is flexible, but expected to be in early 2008.
Most of the members of GIQ (http://giq.ifae.es) belong to the Theoretical Physics Group, which is part of the Physics Department of the UAB. The GIQ research interests ranges from theoretical aspects of quantum information (quantum state estimation/discrimination, characterization of entanglement, Bell inequalities and foundations of quantum mechanics) to implementations of quantum information protocols (e.g., continuous variables, angular momentum of photons, cold gases) and quantum information in condense matter systems. The candidates will also have the opportunity to interact with scientists at the nearby quantum information and quantum optics groups (at ICFO, UAB, UB).
Applicants are expected to have a solid background in the area of quantum information theory. We are looking for enthusiastic researchers, able to join and collaborate actively in the research activities of the group. Candidates with their own initiatives and/or research lines will be highly considered. Candidates with an outstanding background in research areas other than those above are also eligible. Applicants are requested to send their curriculum vitae together with their list of publications and a statement of research interest, and to arrange to have at least two reference letters send to: jcalsami@ifae.es.
